Paraguayan ambassador urges cooperation in cotton sector.

ISLAMABAD:

Paraguay has vast opportunities in the construction and cotton sectors, which can benefit Pakistani public and private sectors, according to Paraguayan Ambassador to Pakistan Ausberto V.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Ausberto invited the Pakistani government and investors from the private sector to visit Paraguay, and assured them of opportunities for fruitful investment. He called on the Government of Pakistan to come up with treaties for commercial exchange, pointing out that Paraguay was rich in wheat, animal feed, oilseeds, and wood.

Ausberto explained that his country was once rich in cotton production, but was now in need of foreign investment to restore its success. He praised Pakistan’s expertise in the sector, and urged the public and private sectors to provide input.

Similarly, he invited investors to develop the construction sector in Paraguay, as it would provide massive job opportunities for Pakistanis.

Ausberto informed that the government was planning to begin direct flights from Pakistan to Paraguay, to provide direct access to the South American country and assist potential investors.

In this connection, he proposed signing of an agreement with Pakistan International Airlines to encourage commercial and cultural relations between the two countries.

The ambassador lauded Pakistan’s efforts in the war against terrorism to ensure peace, which he believes is the key to prosperity in the region. He said the country was facing critical conditions due to terrorism, but was confident it has the capacity to overcome the challenges presented. Ausberto also urged Pakistan to maintain good relations with India.

The ambassador said his visit to Pakistan had been very encouraging, and hoped for stronger relations with the passage of time.
