LAHORE: A Punjabi mushaira and the Faiz Ahmad Faiz Poetry Competition were held at the Government College University Lahore to mark World Poetry Day. Most of the poetry and song competitions were won by teams of the University of Engineering and Technology.

Earlier, noted Punjabi poets from all over Pakistan presented their poetry at the Mushaira, while students from 22 universities participated in the competition.

The Punjabi Mushaira was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the candle by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Hassan Amir Shah. About 28 eminent Punjabi poets, including Dr Sughra Sadaf, Younas Aqir, Murli Chohan, Asim Pehtayar and Habibullah presented the best of their poetry at the Mushaira.
