Suspect filming census team arrested in Karachi

Religious literature, notebook with transcription in Hindi recovered from his possession

KARACHI: The Taimuria police apprehended on Wednesday a man for allegedly filming a census team in District Central.

Police also claimed to have recovered religious literature and a notebook having transcription in Hindi language from his possession. The accused was identified as Danish Jamil alias Jalil Ahmed.

"We took Jamil into custody after complaints about his suspicious activities," said Taimuria SHO Tasawar Ameer, adding that the police were looking for an interpreter to examine the Hindi language.

Police officials, while quoting the suspect, said that Jamil's parents belonged to India and he frequently visits India.

Police officials said they will also approach the Federal Investigation Agency and other intelligence agencies to inquire about the suspect.

A case has yet to be registered as the police said the investigation was at the preliminary level.
