Police detain people for possessing licensed weapons

Body of an unidentified man was found dumped in a desolate place in Sector I-11 within the remits of Sabzi Mandi police station on Saturday.

According to initial investigation, police said the deceased, who seemed to be in his 30s, was killed with a sharp-edged weapon. The body has been shifted to morgue, while efforts to know his whereabouts and trace the killers were underway, police added.

Meanwhile, in Bhara Kahu Police arrested 12 suspects including an Afghan national, from various areas including Bohobri during a search operation, a spokesman said. Following National Action Plan (NAP), personnel of Islamabad police and Rangers conducted the search operation under supervision of SP (City) Zubair Ahmed Shaikh, DSP Arif Hussain Shah and SHO Bhara Kahu. Women police commandos and the Bomb Disposal Squad experts also participated in the action.

Police and Rangers checked 250 houses and detained 12 suspects including an Afghan national for possessing weapons. The arms turned out to be licenced. In all, the law enforcers questioned 500 people on the spot.

Islamabad SSP Sajid Kiani said the purpose of this search operation and high vigilance was to ensure fool proof security in the city, while directing all SHOs to continue it. He also appealed that citizens remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them.
