Next PSL to be held in Pakistan during PTI’s tenure, says Imran
PTI chief says quality cricketers will play in the league, not the ‘third-class’ or the ‘useless’
ISLAMABAD:
The PTI chairman Imran Khan on Friday claimed that the next edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be played during tenure of the PTI government and that the entire tournament will be held in the country and not just its final.
"Quality cricketers of the world will play in the league, not the third-class or the useless," Imran said, while speaking as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the Insaf Super League (ISL), whose final match was held at Islamabad’s G-7cricket stadium.
The 2nd PSL final was played under tight security earlier this month. The winner of the T20 league was Peshawar Zalmi, which was captained by West Indian cricketer Darren Sammy.
Imran had earlier got the flaks from various circles for his derogatory remark against the international players that participated in the tournament.
Congratulating the winning team, Imran lauded the organiser, saying that PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa established 70 sports stadiums to promote healthy activities.
He said that promotion of regional cricket could produce talented cricketers in the country, adding that sport should be made an institution. Earlier, he also distributed a trophy and prizes among the players of the winning team.
