SARGODHA:
An assistant sub inspector of Phularwan police station has been arrested for his involvement in a kidnapping-for-ransom case.

Police said on Friday that accused ASI Jahangir and his accomplices had abducted three people identified as Ghulam Nabi, Muhammad Ali and Amir and demanded Rs5 million ransom for their release.

The policeman also threatened the abductees to register a drug case against them if they failed to pay the money. However, Bhalwal Circle DSP Malik Usman recovered the abductees and arrested the accused ASI and others. A case has been registered.


Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested 33 outlaws, including nine proclaimed offenders and seized narcotics and illegal weapons from them.

A police official said the teams of different police stations raided different city areas and arrested 24 drug peddlers. At least 12.57 kg hashish, 243 bottles of liquor, seven guns, eight pistols, a revolver and a rifle was seized from them.
