KARACHI:
The Indus Hospital inaugurated its first maternal care facility - the Sheikh Saeed Campus - in Korangi in yet another milestone for the charitable organisation on Wednesday.
The campus, which comes under the umbrella of the Indus Health Network, is headed by Dr Farah Bari. She said the facility has been playing a pivotal role in changing the maternal health indicators within the lower income coastal belt of Korangi.
According to her, the dire need for maternal health services will be met after the expansion of the facility from a 54-bed to 74-bed facility, which will cater to more gynaecological cases. She stated that 4,000 deliveries and 30,000 out-patient department patients have been recorded in the last one-and-a-half years since the Indus Hospital took control of the facility.

Dr Farah remarked that the campus has been expanded and modernised with a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit with a capacity of handling 12 neonates at a time.
Indus Hospital chief executive officer Dr Abdul Bari Khan said that the campus is also operating on the Indus Hospital's popular model of being a paperless and cashless hospital. The aim and mission of the hospital is to provide underprivileged citizens a high-quality facility where safe deliveries are performed under the supervision of medical professionals and staff.
He also expressed great joy and happiness for achieving another target in serving the people in the health sector. While explaining their mission, he said the aim of the Indus Health Network is to replicate the model of providing free of charge, high-quality treatment to those in need. He expressed a strong will to continue the expansion to serve humanity.
