Targeted raids: Seven criminals taken into custody in Karachi

Three of the arrested belong to MQM-London, says Rangers spokesperson

KARACHI: Rangers claimed on Tuesday to have arrested at least seven suspects, including three workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) - London, during ongoing raids in the city.

The three political workers were arrested during targeted raids conducted by paramilitary soldiers in Saddar and Malir areas. The suspects arrested were identified as Asif Ali alias Mauripur Wala, Kamal and Salman alias Chacha.



"The men belonged to MQM-London and had been involved in various criminal activities, including targeted killings, extortion and China-cutting," said the Rangers spokesperson, adding that Ali was the party's Baldia Town sector incharge and had been involved in various cases of targeted killings, extortion, arms smuggling and forced collection of hides of sacrificial animals.

The remaining two political workers were also accused of being involved in targeted killings and extortion activities in the city.
Four more suspects were arrested during a raid by the force at alFalah locality.

The suspects arrested were identified as Adnan, Hussain, Ghulam and Asif alias Kala. A Rangers spokesperson said the arrested suspects were running a gang of robbers and had been involved in a number of robberies and street crimes. Rangers also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

The suspects were handed over to the police for further investigation.
