Child Protection Bureau: Head barred from appointing officers
Petitioner’s counsel argues respondent is appointing new people while her own appointment was sub-judice.

The Lahore High Court has barred the Child Protection Welfare Bureau’s director general from appointing new officers in the department. On Monday, LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued the order while hearing a petition challenging the appointment of Fatima Sheikh as the head of the bureau. The petitioner’s counsel Sheraz Zaka argued the respondent had been misusing her office and appointing new people in the department while her own appointment was sub-judice. Fatima, he added, was not eligible for the post as she belonged to the information group while the requisite qualification was the aspirant officer must belong to the district management group. The appointment should be declared illegal and without any merit, he said, requesting the court to stop her from appointing new officers till the case was decided. The chief justice barred Fatima from making new appointments till the next hearing on March 15.
