SUKKUR: Ghotki police lodged an FIR on Monday against six persons, including its additional SHO, on charges of killing a woman during a raid in Dhani Bux Bheri village situated within B-Section police limits on Monday morning.

One week ago, a girl, Koonjan, daughter of Muhammad Hassan Bheri, was allegedly kidnapped by Shahnawaz Bheri. On Sunday, the girl's relatives allegedly attacked Shahnawaz's house, vandalized it and manhandled the men, women and children present.

Shahnawaz's mother, Mai Bhanan, filed a complaint with the B-section police on Sunday evening and that night a police team, led by additional SHO Muhammad Rafiq Chachar and Shahnawaz's relatives, raided and ransacked Muhammad Hassan's house, resulting in a scuffle between the residents and police team.

As a result of the clash, an elderly woman, Mai Patul, was injured. She was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to her wounds on the way. On Monday, scores of villagers staged a sit-in on the National Highway and laid the corpse on the road. The protesters demanded action against the police team.

The Ghotki DSP reached the site and negotiated with the protesters, assuring them that they would receive justice.

On Muhammad Hassan's complaint, the B-section police lodged the FIR against six persons - additional SHO Chachar, constable Mohammad Panjal Abro, Ghous Bux Bheri, Mohammad Nawaz Bheri, Shahmir Bheri and Ali Nawaz Bheri - but no arrest has been made as yet.
