Senate for strengthening federation
Since its inception, the upper house of parliament had been calling to strengthen the federation
ISLAMABAD:
Since its inception in 1973, the upper house of parliament had been calling for enhancement in its powers to strengthen the federation, said Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani.
It was not aimed at encroaching the provincial autonomy as independent and autonomous provinces were a guarantee for strong and prosperous federation, he said while addressing a seminar, titled ‘Enhancement of Powers of Senate for Stronger Federation’ organised to mark completion of the second parliamentary year of the Senate.
Meanwhile, Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq said the Upper House played a key role in making the federation stronger as it is representing all the federating units.
