PHF announces probables for Azlan Shah Cup
PHF has shortlisted 31 probables for the training camp ahead of the 20th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has shortlisted 31 probables for the training camp ahead of the 20th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup that starts from May 5 to 15. The selection committee chose four top players from the recently-concluded national championship, five from the victorious Youth Olympics team besides members of the Asian Games squad.
“After thorough discussion with the selection committee, team manager and the chief coach, the PHF has chosen the players out of which 25 will be shortlisted for the central contract,” said the PHF General Secretary Asif Bajwa. “After the camp, the players will be given a five-day rest before being assigned tasks to remain in shape.”
Players will report at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad on March 31 before training starts from April 1 under the supervision of coach Michel van den Heuvel.
Wapda’s Tassawar Abbas and Mohammad Imran, NBP’s Muhammad Ateeq and Akhtar Ali are the top four players that were chosen from the national championship.
Pakistan to participate in International Super Series
Meanwhile, Pakistan will be among the five nations to take part in a tournament - a new innovation by the Hockey Australia – featuring some changes to make the game livelier. The International Super Series, which will have two 15-minute halves and nine players on the field including two on the attack, will also feature Australia, India, Malaysia and New Zealand. It will be held at the Perth Hockey Stadium from October 20 to 23.
