MANSEHRA: The Torghar District Police Officer has suspended two police officials for subjecting a van driver to torture and ordered an inquiry against them.

Police sources said that on Saturday, a van driver from the Gowandla Mada Khel area was travelling to Amazai when two constables from the Karor police station, Qaisar and Bakht Munir, intercepted his van and took him to the police station.

The two policemen, according to driver, did not tell him on what charges they were detaining him.

At the station, Qaisar and Munir allegedly subjected the van driver to severe physical torture.

The driver was later released for unknown reasons.

Following his release, the van driver and his relatives from the Madakhel tribe filed an application with Torghar DPO Sardar Khan who asked the Kandar Circle DSP Matloob Shah to conduct an inquiry.

DSP Shah held the two constables responsible for the driver’s wrongful detention and for torturing him.

Based on the DSP's report, DPO Khan suspended the two constables.
