Smoking sheesha: Police urged to remain vigilant
Tobacco control cell says police should play key role in protecting younger generation from harmful use of tobacco
ABBOTTABAD:
Police must stay vigilant against sheesha and other tobacco products being sold in and around education institutions to protect the youth.
This was stated by lawyer Asad Khan from the district tobacco control cell while addressing police officers during an awareness session at the office of the District Police Officer.
Asad said that the use of tobacco at public places was already a cognisable offense in addition to a ban on the sale of tobacco products to people below the 18-years-of-age.
Police, he said, had a key role to play in protecting the younger generation from the harmful use of tobacco.
In this regard, he urged officers to keep a check on shops established near and inside educational institutions.
Moreover, he urged officers to check the sale and use of tobacco products, including sheesha, at shops being run in and around educational institutions.
He also referred to different rulings of the Supreme Court in this regard.
