ISLAMABAD:
There is a need to promote quality research and link it with the socio-economic development of the country.

This was stated by speakers at the fourth national conference on physics and emerging sciences. The two-day moot kicked off at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Thursday.

The moot has been arranged by the university to promote a culture of research in the country.

AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui said that a special financial package had been provided to motivate and inspire academicians to focus on research since universities are meant to create and build knowledge, disseminate it among end-users.

He hoped that the conference would help promote interaction among researchers so that they exchange their experiences and expertise in the field of science and technology. The moot was largely attended by researchers, academicians as well as students of MPhil and PhD from various parts of the country.
