Balochistan stage recovery against Sindh

Balochistan stage dramatic comeback on day three of the Pentangular Cup final against Sindh.

KARACHI:

Balochistan staged a dramatic comeback on day three of the Pentangular Cup final against Sindh, ending on 301 for five, with a lead of 87 runs.

Trailing Sindh by 214 runs in the first-innings, Balochistan responded with a battling performance. After a disastrous start, losing opener Shoaib Khan with just nine on the board, Zain Abbas and Saeed Anwar (61) put on 147 for the second wicket. Sindh hit back, dismissing Abbas for 90 after the batsman had hit 13 boundaries.

Significant knocks by the middle-order thwarted Sindh’s hopes for a quick result with Taimur Ali (47) and Naved Yasin (21) combining for a fourth-wicket partnership of 45. Ali continued the good work by adding another crucial 77 with Imranullah Aslam before he made his way back to the pavilion.

Aslam will continue his innings on 59 with Gulraiz Sadaf, who is batting on five, as Balochistan batsmen try to defy Sindh’s bowlers today.

For Sindh, Sohail Khan picked up three for 99. However, first-innings bowling hero Mohammad Sami failed to repeat his performance as he picked up a solitary wicket. Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria also failed to cause much damage and returned with one wicket.

Despite struggling for regular breakthroughs, Sindh still enjoy the upper hand as they hope to dismiss Balochistan’s lower order in quick time.

Earlier, Sindh added 32 to their overnight total before being all out for 513. Sarfraz Ahmed was out for 71 as Abdur Rauf ended with a six-wicket haul for Balochistan, picking up two on day three.
