The arrested suspects are said to be involved in cases of terrorism, targeted killings and narcotics trade. The Rangers claimed to have recovered arms, ammunition and narcotics from the possession of the suspects.
Giving details about the arrests, the Rangers spokesperson said that two of the suspects, Mehboob Ali and Muhammad Usman, were arrested during raids in SITE and Sohrab Goth localities.
Targeted operations: Rangers arrest eight suspects
Ali is allegedly affiliated with banned outfit, Sipah-e-Muhammad Pakistan, while the other accused is associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan's faction Jamaatul Ahrar. The Rangers spokesperson claimed that the alleged militants have been involved in targeting the Rangers and Muharram processions in Karachi.
Another suspect, Noshad, was arrested during a raid in Lyari. He is allegedly affiliated with a Lyari-based group and has been involved in various cases of crime, including extortion and targeted killings.
Other than this, four alleged drug peddlers were arrested during a raid in Macchar Colony area of Keamari. The arrested suspects include a police constable, identified as Danish, and three of his comrades, Obaid, Azhar Ali and Subhan.
Three alleged street criminals, identified as Ali, Zeeshan and Amir, were taken into custody during raids in Nazimabad and New Karachi localities.
