LAHORE: Though prices of most seasonal vegetables remained stable in Sunday Bazaars in Lahore, consumers continued to complain about the quality of products this week as well.

Vendors were accused of selling substandard and blended product varieties at premium price.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, a middle-aged woman Nousheen said either the government was trying to fool citizens or it was being fooled by greengrocers as most commodities offered in Sunday Bazaars were substandard.

Another shopper Muhammad Usman said there was little or no difference in fruit and vegetables prices in weekly makeshift markets when compared to open market rates. “If the government cannot control prices in Sunday Bazaars what should we expect from vendors in markets,” he said.

Greengrocers, on the other hand, gave the same old excuse that prices of fruit and vegetables were higher in wholesale markets and it was impossible for them to sell them at lower prices.
