Sammy claims this Pakistani cricketer is even harder to control than Afridi
Peshawar Zalmi captain says Hassan Ali will be future superstar for Pakistan
Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy, in a recent question and answer session for ESPNCricinfo’s Polite Enquiries, revealed that all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was more difficult to control on the pitch than former captain Shahid Afridi.
Sammy, West Indies’ 2016 World T20 winning captain, was asked ‘how difficult is it for you to control Afridi on the field’?
He replied: “Not at all, Shahid is my best friend.” He then continued with a tongue-in-cheek comment about Hafeez. “It’s more difficult to control Hafeez. He’ll kill me [for naming him],” Sammy added with a laugh.
Future stars for Pakistan?
Sammy named two players from his Peshawar squad who he thinks can become superstars for Pakistan in the future.
“I got a few. I think from my team [right-arm pacer] Hassan Ali will be a quality bowler for Pakistan,” said Sammy, adding left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar to the list as well.
Selfie celebration explained
Sammy has been quite active in the field with his wit and humour for Peshawar Zalmi in the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). His selfie celebration, where he calls all his team players behind him while he assumingly takes a picture, was appreciated by a lot of franchise fans.
“You know we always try to come up with different things. When I played in Bangladesh Premier League, myself and Kesrick Williams, we were told that we were the guys who took most number of selfies.”
When asked if he does take too many selfies, Sammy said: “Yeah I do, I think.”
