Chaudhry Zulfiqar becomes the president securing 3,365 votes

LAHORE:
A group of lawyers led by Hamid Khan again emerged triumphant in the Lahore High Court Bar Association election on Saturday.

Chaudhry Zulfiqar became the president securing 3,365 votes, while his rival Ramzan Chaudhry secured 2,909 votes. Other presidential candidates Khurram Khosa, son of former  Punjab governor Latif Khosa, and Aazar Latif Khan secured 741 votes and 744 votes, respectively.

Amir Saeed Rawn was elected secretary after polling 2,396 votes. Rashid Lodhi became vice president with 4,419 votes. Zaheer Butt became finance secretary by polling 3,446 votes.

The elections were held amid tight security. Rangers and police personnel were deployed, roads leading to Lahore High Court were blocked and no lawyer was allowed to enter the premises without verification of their bar membership card and CNIC.
