HYDERABAD:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday expressed hope that the Panama leaks case would get the better of the Sharif family.

“The Sharif family has now been ensnared in the Panama case. Soon the people who have plundered billions of rupees of this nation will be behind bars,” he told a public meeting in Tharparkar’s Chachro taluka.

He alleged that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is using the government machinery to cover his alleged embezzlement of public funds.

“In the past only the petty thieves were nabbed and jailed while the bigger thieves enjoyed power. But the tables have turned now.”

Qureshi went on to accuse the ruling family of damaging the national institutions to stay in power.

“The officials of National Accountability Bureau, Federal Board of Revenue and Federal Investigation Agency are paid salaries from the taxpayer’s money. But they have been behaving as personal servants to the rulers,” he added.

He credited his party chief Imran Khan for keeping the Panamagate case alive and taking this issue to the Supreme Court. He said his party would not allow the politics of hidden deals and settlements to ruin the country anymore.

Criticising his previous party, the PTI leader said the party has confined to become a provincial party from a federal one. “In the next election it [PPP] would be wiped out from Sindh as well,” he claimed.

Qureshi accused the PPP of committing atrocities against the people who voted the party into the power.
