This was decided at a review meeting of SMIU’s department of examination and admissions on Wednesday. The meeting, in which the performance and problems of the department were reviewed, was presided over by the vice-chancellor of the varsity, Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh.
It was decided that all the functions of the examination and admissions department will be done through the IT department. The entire data of admission process, enrolment, fees, credentials of students, examinations, results and other related information will be recorded with the help of IT. To fulfil this, IT Director Shah Muhammad Butt was directed to coordinate with the controller of examinations.
A rare insight into the Quaid’s early education
Addressing the meeting, Dr Shaikh said examination and admissions are the most important sections of the university that must work according to the needs of the IT era. In the present day and age, he said, paperwork is being shifted to computers and also online, which improves the performance of institutions.
“SMIU, being one of the most modern institutions of the country, must benefit from the IT facilities that will benefit the students and also facilitate the faculty and administration,” he added.
