LAHORE: The Punjab government has directed the district administration to compile data of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dealers operating in the city as the number of fatal accidents caused by cylinders blasts has increased, The Express Tribune learnt on Tuesday.

The government asked the Lahore Deputy Commissioner Sameer Ahmad Syed to prepare a list of all LPG dealers as they plan to regulate distribution in the wake of these fatal accidents. Sameer said a preliminary meeting was held on Tuesday and the process of data collection had been initiated.

“Once the data is available, the government will decide how to regulate the LPG business in the city or what will policy will be adopted to monitor sales,” he said.

He added it was not yet finalised which government departments would be involved in regulating LPG businesses.
