Police fired at a 'suspicious' car on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway as it did not stop at the check post Sunday morning, Express News reported.

The car took a U-turn soon after the policemen signalled it to stop making them fire at the vehicle. In response, a man climbed off the car and fired back at the police.

Police claimed to have arrested the person who returned fire on the officials and are questioning him.

Further search operation has also begun to trace the car and arrest the people travelling on it.

The incident came following a recent wave of terrorism in the country. Over 85 people were killed in a deadly blast at Lal Shahbaz’s Shrine in Sehwan, Sindh after which all major Sufi places were closed in view of the security risk.
