The CJ summoned details from all judges and found that 16 appeals filed by elderly accused are pending decisions before judges in Karachi, four in Hyderabad and 15 each before the Larkana and Sukkur circuit benches.
The CJ asked judges to ensure regular hearings of their appeals. He directed them to hold at least one hearing every week and dispose of them as quickly as possible.
The Anti-Terrorism Court has 87 appeals while the special jails have a total of 61 appeals.
