PLEA: Government urged to revive economy

LAHORE:

The government must play its role to ensure that the country gets back on the path of economic prosperity, according to Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Chairman Sohail Lashari.

Addressing a meeting of the Lahore Township Industrial Association (LTIA) on Tuesday, Lashari said the economic situation was worsening.

He pointed out that Bangladesh was becoming a textile giant, while Pakistan’s textile industry was being shifted to other countries because of the energy crisis, high costs and unfavourable government policies.

He attributed the unsatisfactory state of economy to the energy crisis and criticised the government for failing to provide a timeline for the restoration of electricity supply, while urging it to initiate new power projects.
