‘Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park will help boost economy’
Minister directs officials to complete project on priority
LAHORE:
Quid-e-Azam Apparel Park (QAAP) near Shekhupura is vital in boosting the textile industry of Pakistan as it will provide massive economic activity and employment opportunities in the sector.
This was said by Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment (ICI) Sheikh Alauddin while presiding over a meeting of Steering committee of QAAP to review work progress on the project on Tuesday.
Set for inauguration: For Greater Iqbal Park, another opening date
ICI Secretary Dr Mujtaba Piracha, QAAP Project Director Shehzad Ahmad and other officials also attended the meeting. The minister said “QAAP is a flagship project of Punjab government and Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants to make it an international hub for the textile industry and trade.” He maintained, “The completion of the project within the given timeline should be top priority of the departments concerned.”
QAAP Project Director Shehzad Ahmad told the meeting, “A consultant firm from Singapore has been selected that will start work after terms and conditions are settled.” He added the work on Motorway Interchange, realignment of Sheikhupura drain and construction of front road will be completed this year, while LESCO had to complete realignment of 132 KVA power line by the end of this month.

“The Punjab government has allocated Rs146 million for the front road in the ADP against total estimated cost of Rs510 million.”
Expressing satisfaction over progress of the project, the minister directed all officers to keep close liaison with the departments concerned and avoid delay in completion of the project.
