Paintings exhibition: Historical architecture in creative perspective

Qaiser Habibi’s 30 paintings have been on display at The Collectors Galleria since Friday, March 11.
The paintings, mostly acrylic on canvas, show historical buildings and monuments.
Habibi’s use of dark tones adds to the dramatic feel of the work. This is the artist’s fourth solo show in Pakistan.
Habibi said that the focus of his work has been the historical buildings. With a lake around the Lahore Fort and mountains around the shrines in Multan, the work successfully delivers Habibi’s strong imagination.
Lubna Khalid, an arts and design student at the Punjab University, said that Habibi’s painting were unique. “While every other artist is trying to show the depressing side of the society, Habibi’s work shows serenity and beauty.”
She said his making moon the source of light in most paintings, was a wonderful idea that kept the visitors captivated. Anam Amin, another visitor, said that the work was traditional and yet highly creative. “Many modern artists are influenced by gothic themes. They are losing their grip on traditional art. Habibi’s work gives us a sense of ownership of what’s in the paintings,” she said.Today is the last day of the exhibition.
