MULTAN:
A woman seeking a divorce was murdered by her husband in the civil court on Monday.
Shah Jamal resident Razia had been married to Manzoor for 14 years and had three children. Her family said that the couple often quarrelled and Manzoor had severely beaten her on numerous occasions. Three days ago, Razia decided to file a petition for divorce and left her husband’s house.
Razia filed an application for divorce in the court of civil Judge Rizwan Asif. As she approached the court for her hearing on Monday, Manzoor was waiting for her. Eye witnesses said they saw Manzoor slit Razia’s throat with a shaving razor.
Police officials then took Manzoor into custody.
District and Sessions Court issued a warning to SP Imran Jalil and Station House Officer Sadiq Rind for not reaching the scene promptly and for their failure to deploy policemen at the court.
Rind has lodged an FIR against Manzoor.
Manzoor told police that Razia had had illicit relations with a neighbour and deserved to be killed.
