Six people including a woman and three children of a family died while 15 were injured on Tuesday after a gas pipeline exploded inside a house Circular road, Bahawalnagar.

The explosion also caused several houses to collapse in the South Punjab city, leading to panicked scenes of people rushing out of their houses.

Relatives of the victims said they had informed Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd (SNGPL) about the leakage several times but to no avail.

The deceased were identified as Munira, wife of Wazir Ahmad, 20, Benish, 5, daughter of Wazir Ahmad, Zaheer Ahmad, 12, son of Wazir Ahmad, Goshi, 4, d/o Wazir Ahmad, Attia d/o Abdul Ghaffar while identity of one of the persons remained unidentified.

The injured were identified as Afzal, Hamza, Ayesha, Naheed, Faheem Hussain, Iqra Ayoub and Abdul Rehman.
