Peshawar Zalmi invite children from Shaukat Khanum to watch PSL
Franchise’s owner says they are trying to bring back smiles on faces
Peshawar Zalmi have invited 20 children from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital to watch Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in the United Arab Emirates.
The move came after Zalmi’s kit launch at the hospital during which the franchise’s owner, Javed Afridi, promised the audience to give children, who are undergoing medical treatment for cancer, an opportunity to watch the tournament’s matches from the stands.

“We [Peshawar Zalmi] are just delivering on our promise which we made during our kit launch at Shaukat Khanum,” he said.
Last year, the Peshawar side also invited the survivors of the 2014 Army Public School attack for the tournament as part of its philanthropic efforts. Around 150 students and staff members from the school were invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of the first edition of PSL. And the franchise owner believes this is what sets them apart from others in the league.

“If you look at all the other franchises [in the tournament], you can see that we are the only side that not only talks about bringing back smiles on the faces, but are also making an effort towards realising that dream,” said Afridi. “All we want to do is to share our happiness with these kids.”
