ISLAMABAD:

Pakistani Fashion Designer Shaiyanne Malik launched her spring/summer collection this Saturday at the multi-label L`atelier. After stocking off and on with The Designers in Blue Area, Malik has finally found a permanent home for her collections.

“This store gives me a great vibe,” said Malik, “The energy and exuberance that Zahra and Sarah Raza [the store owners] have really inspires me, and I feel it is the best place to house my work.” Malik has used the age-old chata pati and ganga jamni techniques to embellish her line.

Her traditional motifs, enveloping the deep hues of brown and maroon with a splash of green and orange, were an instant hit. The mix medium outfits encompass a wide array of casual laces put together with flashy velvet. Known for working with velvet and deep colours, Malik’s collection focuses on deeper and richer colour tones.

“I really like the scheming of different fabrics and patterns, they aren’t too overwhelming and yet stand out,” said Shandana Khurram, a visitor at the store.

L’atelier has made a niche for itself in Islamabad’s fashion market since its opening and Shaiyanne Malik’s collection of luxury prêt only strengthens the store’s collection. The most exciting part of this launch is the amazing price points, said Sarah Raza of L’atelier. Putting a maximum price seal of approximately Rs60,000, the clothes are affordable and wearable by the standards of high fashion.

“Malik is a big name from Karachi and one wouldn’t expect the prices to be so affordable. But we want to cater to everyone from every background,” she said.

Islamabad’s fashionistas made their way to L’atelier to enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvre and witness Malik’s latest collection. With the never ending wedding season taking over Pakistan’s social calendar, Islamabad has yet another designer to help them cater to the ever mounting fashion needs.
