‘Annual inspections helping improve performance’
NAB chief says exercise set to be completed by month’s end

The annual inspection of regional offices of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) are set to be completed by the end of February.
This was stated by NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry while addressing officers of NAB Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa after the two day annual inspection of the bureau was completed.
The initiative, which started in 2014, had proved to be successful in enhancing the performance of NAB’s Regional Bureaus since the evaluation came with the realisation that they should overcome the shortfalls pointed out during the inspection.
He added that eradication of corruption was a top priority for the authority. NAB officers, he urged, should double their efforts in eradicating graft with the realisation that corruption was the root cause of all evils and a major hurdle in the progress and prosperity of the country.
For this purpose, he said NAB had chalked out a proactive anti-corruption strategy which had been acknowledged by Transparency International in its report fir 2016.
He added that the latest TI report showed Pakistan had improved nine spots on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), adding that Pakistan was considered a role model in South Asian countries in its efforts against corruption.
Besides Transparency International (TI0, the independent national and International watch dogs like PLIDAT and World Economic Forum have also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to curb corruption in Pakistan.
