Holbrook calls Qureshi

LAHORE: US Special Representative Richard Holbrooke on Friday briefed Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on the Afghan president's visit to the US.

According to the foreign office spokesman, Holbrooke briefed the Foreign Minister on the recent visit by Afghan President Hamid Karzai to the US. The call was made on the instructions of US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

Holbrook said that the process of consultation between the two countries on the regional situation will continue.

He said that Pakistan has played a prominent role in the war against terror and we view the role of Pakistan with great respect.

During the conversation, views were exchanged on New York Times Square incident and it was agreed that individual incidents like Faisal Shahzad will not affect the ties between the two countries and both countries will continue to work together for the elimination of terror. It will also be ensured that the information is exchanged in order to control such incidents.

Holbrook expressed his satisfaction over the role of Pakistan Army in the war against terror.
