ISLAMABAD:
The investigation into the disappearance of a writer and academic has hardly progressed because neither the family nor police have been pursuing the case.

Salman Haider had gone missing on January 6 from the Korang Town area and returned to his home on the night of January 27. But ever since his return, neither the police nor the family have said a word about what happened to Haider and who his kidnappers were, if any.

The police say they have no knowledge where Haider had been during the three weeks of his disappearance, adding they had no role in Haider’s recovery because they claim he returned to his home on his own.

For the first two days after Haider’s return, police said that they tried to approach him to record his statement but the family had denied them access, saying he was not in a position to give any statement.
