A police official who shot dead a young man for not stopping his car at a police picket was given into police custody for two days on Monday.

Constable Samiullah Niazi was produced before Judicial Magistrate Aamir Khalil with the request for two-day physical remand for investigation, which the court granted.

Niazi had been on the run after fatally shooting the car driver on Friday morning. He surrendered before the police on Sunday.
