An explosion in Bahrain killed three police officers, during a clash with protesters west of the capital Manama on Monday, the Interior Ministry said. It said on its Twitter account that a group of protesters had broken away from a mourning procession in the village of Daih and started blocking roads. The explosion took place as the policemen were trying to disperse the rioters, it added. PHOTO: REUTERS

A bomb exploded on a main thoroughfare on the outskirts of the Bahraini capital Manama on Sunday damaged several cars but caused no injuries, in what the interior ministry described as a “terrorist” act.

There have been increased protests in the kingdom after the execution last month of three men convicted of killing three policemen in a bomb attack in 2014.
