LAHORE: Those who have broken records of corruption in their regime will be held accountable by the public, said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday. “An autonomous, independent and prosperous Pakistan is our destination and we are striving hard by day and night for this,” he said while talking to members of Punjab Assembly from different districts. “We have promoted merit at every level, accepting the fact that it is the key to success.” Shehbaz said a moderate progress strategy was adopted to complete development projects and projects worth billions of rupees had been initiated at a prioritised basis in under-developed areas especially southern Punjab. He hoped that 2018 would once again witness the victory of the PML-N that would prove fatal for the ‘sit-in trend setters’, whose politics only relies on levelling baseless allegations on others, impeachment, insurgency and hypocrisy. “Pakistan is changing in terms of prosperity and growth but politically devoid politicians are still the same,” he regretted.
