Uplift schemes inspected: ‘Sports activities help promote talent among youth’

DC orders officials to work on city’s beautification

BAHAWALPUR: It is essential to modernise sports infrastructure to promote extra-curricular activities among youth. This will help in developing their talent and skills.

This was said by Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal during his visit to Dring Stadium on Friday. He inspected various ongoing sports projects which included electronic sports library, gymnasium, Astroturf at Matiullah Hockey Stadium and hostel for the players. Coordination Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Tayyab, Divisional Sports Officer Syed Mateen Ahmad, District Sports Officer Maqsoodul Hassan Javed and Dring Stadium Incharge Talat Masood Khan also accompanied the DC.

The DC urged upon the officials of the sports department to accelerate the pace of ongoing development schemes in a bid to complete the projects in the given time frame.

Saleem Afzal maintained that taking part in constructive activities like sports will help the youth to utilize their capabilities in a positive manner.

On the occasion, the deputy commissioner appreciated the maintenance of historic Dring Stadium.

He said the stadium had played an important part in conducting different sports activities for years.

Meanwhile, Rana Saleem Afzal also directed the officials of Parks and Horticulture Authority to utilise all available resources to enhance the beauty of Bahawalpur City.

He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting which was held at the Committee Room.

The meeting was attended by PHA Director Rana Qadhafi, Horticulture Deputy Director Abid Yaseen,  Assistant Director Rana Masroor,   and others officials.

During the meeting, Director PHA Rana Qazafi gave a detailed briefing regarding the new initiative of PHA to enhance the environmental profile of the city which included construction of Children’s Park, Multan Roundabout and Azam Chowk project.

The DC said, “An effective mechanism should be evolved by PHA to complete all developmental works by ensuring high quality of construction work within the stipulated time frame work.”

He said he would personally inspect the developmental works of PHA and monitor the performance of the officials.
