Beefing up security: Sabzi Mandi to get cameras, picket

Kiani said that it was his top priority to resolve the security related problems in Sabzi Mandi area

ISLAMABAD: After months of unabated crime in and around the fruit and vegetable market in Sector I-11, with several cases of phone snatching, robbery and murders reported, police have promised to increase patrolling and beef up security.

In this regard, SSP-Operations Sajid Kiani visited the Sabzi Mandi on Tuesday and directed the installation of  security cameras there under the Safe City project. He also directed that a police picket would be set up in the market.

Moreover, he announced that two extra motorbikes and a vehicle would be given to the Sabzi Mandi police to increase patrolling in the area.

Kiani said that it was his top priority to resolve the security related problems in Sabzi Mandi area. Stressing that problems of Sabzi Mandi were related to various departments and mutual cooperation by all traders was essential.

He cautioned traders to employ people only after through scrutiny of identification documents and that relevant records should be registered with local police station.
