Actor Adnan Siddiqui concerned about his safety in India
Both Siddiqui and Sajjal Ali have been granted Indian visas to finish work on Mom
LAHORE:
Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui – who is set to star opposite Bollywood beauty Sri Devi in the upcoming film Mom – has expressed his concerns regarding security in India, saying that he will only go there if the Indian government grants him safety assurance and protection.
“Although the political situation has normalised at the borders, we cannot be too sure about what it’s like within India. Therefore, I will not travel until I am assured of my security,” Adnan told The Express Tribune.
If celebrities have a green passport, they have a responsibility: Adnan Siddiqui
According to sources, both Adnan and Sajal Aly – who is also part of Mom – have been issued Indian visas so that they may complete their work on the film. In fact, both actors are supposed to be leaving for India within the next couple of days but Adnan remains apprehensive. “Yes, even Sajal is preparing to travel across the border but I am worried. I am even more afraid now that the media is speaking about me getting an Indian visa. Such news can create unnecessary hype and disturb me.” Sajal however could not be reached for a comment on the matter.
According to reports, Adnan plays the role of Sri Devi’s husband in Mom, while Sajal will play their daughter. Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are also part of the film, with Sri Devi serving as producer too. Most of the shooting is expected to take place in Mumbai.
