SHABQADAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has said that parliament has no mechanism to curb corruption.

While talking to media during his visit to Charsadda on Sunday, Sirajul Haq said that his party has decided to take the matter of Panama leaks to the Supreme Court, because he believes parliament lacks the ability to tackle corruption.

He was in Charsadda, along with other party members, to attend a wedding ceremony.

Sirajul Haq said that the decision on the Panama leaks case should be decided in favour of the common people of Pakistan and accountability must be ensured in this regard. “Pakistan and corruption cannot go together,” he said.

Regarding Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s remarks, he said that Asif was defending the family instead of the state. The JI parliamentary leader will soon give a response to the minister’s remarks in the National Assembly.

Regarding Fata, he said that it should be merged with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the federal government should not impose its verdict on this matter on the local government. He expressed his willingness for political parties’ alliance regarding Fata.
