Unified Prayer Timings: Govt mulls new law for capital

ISLAMABAD: The government is mulling a new law to implement unified prayer timings in the capital. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Sardar Yusuf on Monday chaired a meeting to ensure implementation of unified timings for prayers.

Government had formulated a 10-member committee of religious scholars in March 2015 to devise a unified timetable and calendar for prayers in the capital. So far 614 mosques out of 957 have agreed to implement the calendar.



During the meeting Yousuf appreciated ulema’s for efforts to implement uniform prayer timings and called to implement the in all major cities, districts.
