Adulterated milk factory dismantled in Islamabad
Authorities seize chemical solution capable of producing 50k litres of fake milk

An organised and highly sought-after group accused of manufacturing and supplying chemically adulterated milk across the twin cities during the holy month of Ramazan has been apprehended in a joint operation conducted by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) and the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA).
Acting on confidential intelligence, the two authorities carried out a coordinated raid in the federal capital, recovering 13,000 litres of hazardous chemical solution allegedly intended for the preparation of counterfeit milk.
Officials stated that the seized substance was capable of producing up to 50,000 litres of adulterated milk for distribution.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Food Authority in Rawalpindi, the large-scale operation was conducted at a residence near Lehtrar Road following a tip-off.
The raiding team confiscated 480 kilograms of banaspati ghee, 50 kilograms of dry powder and machinery used in the production of fake milk. The adulterated milk was reportedly being manufactured using chemical agents and hydrogenated vegetable fat.
The seized chemical mixture was destroyed on the spot to prevent any possibility of it entering the supply chain.
Authorities confirmed that the entire quantity of counterfeit milk was intended for distribution across Rawalpindi and Islamabad during Ramazan, a period in which the consumption of milk and yoghurt traditionally increases significantly.
Officials noted that the surge in demand during Ramadan often provides an opportunity for adulteration networks to maximise illicit profits. Despite heightened enforcement measures during the holy month, such groups continue to operate, prompting food safety authorities to further expand inspection and enforcement operations.
With the support of the PFA, additional raids are also being carried out in Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of a broader crackdown on food adulteration networks. A formal case has been registered against those involved at the behest of the IFA, and investigations are ongoing.
