Babul ilm: Quality, free education for destitute children
Kazmi said the school was not sponsored by any non-governmental organisations or businesses
HARIPUR:
A school for destitute and dropout children was opened in the remote Jorriyan Village in UC Bareela.
Babul Ilm School has three rooms and has been set up in a rented building.
Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Assembly Speaker Fida Muhammad Nashad and religious scholar Arshad Qayum were in attendance.
The school’s head, Zahid Kazmi, said children enrolled in the school would be taught in English from nursery level to Grade 10.
“Since the purpose of encouraging maximum enrollment of children from deprived classes, the school administration will only charge a token fee of Rs1 per month per child”, he told.
Kazmi added that students would get books, stationery, bags, daily refreshments and uniforms all free of cost.
He said the student body currently stood at 50, but in April, another batch of 30 students would be enrolled.
Kazmi said the school was not sponsored by any non-governmental organisations or businesses, but purely on direct donations.
