SUKKUR:
A 14-year-old girl, F*, committed suicide on Sunday, two days after she accidentally shot her elder sister, K*, while playing with their father's gun, in Shikarpur.

The girls lived in an official quarter in the premises of the New Faujdari police station, while their father, A*, is a DSP in Lakhi Ghulam Shah. On Thursday, 17-year-old K was shot in the head when the girls were playing with their father's official pistol and was severely injured. The injured girl was rushed to a private hospital in Sukkur and was later referred to Karachi in critical condition. She eventually succumbed to her injuries. Since K's death, F was reportedly depressed as she felt responsible for her sister's death. On Sunday, while the family was busy in Quran Khawani on her soyem, 14-year-old F shot herself in the head and was wounded.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Shikarpur SSP's reader, Athar Channa, confirmed the two deaths and said that the sisters were playing with their father's old pistol when K was shot. According to Channa, a bullet was stuck in the chamber of the pistol and the DSP had removed its magazine to be on the safe side. The younger sister was aiming the gun at K when the bullet was fired and shot her in the head, added Channa. Since then, the younger sister had been feeling guilty, he said.

Confirming the incidents, another police official at the New Faujdari police station claimed that both the girls have committed suicide and the reason is not known.
