Baseless allegations: FIR registered against Geo owner, anchors
He claim both anchorpersons did it on the behest of the channel’s owner
KARACHI:
On the directive of an anti-terrorism court (ATC), Sindh Police on Saturday night registered a case against Geo TV’s owner Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman, Pemra Chairman Absar Alam and the channel’s two anchors – Najam Sethi and Muneeb Farooq.
The FIR No 24/17 was lodged on the complaint filed on January 25 by a citizen, Gul Khan –a resident of Steel Town. The complainant said Najam Sethi and Muneeb Farooq in Geo TV’s show ‘Aapas Ki Baat’ ‘hatched a conspiracy’ by hurling baseless allegations against the military, government and judiciary.
He claim both anchorpersons did it on the behest of the channel’s owner while Pemra chairman was also involved in the act as he did not take any action against the channel. “Pemra does not take any action against shows in which Pakistan Army, judiciary, government and security institutions are maligned,” he charged.
