Police have arrested a mentally unstable man for killing his daughter by drowning her in a stream and trying to kill his other minor girl.
Police said Amjad Mahmood took his daughters – seven-year-old Maryam and 11-year-old Zainab – out on his motorcycle for giving them a burger treat.
When the man did not return home for several hours, his wife along with her brothers started searching for her daughters and husband.
Amjad was spotted drowning his daughters in the Behi nullah, according to police.
The family rushed to the spot and pulled out the two girls but one of them, Maryam, had already died. The second girl was taken to a hospital in Lahore in precarious condition.
SHO Shoaib Kamran said police have arrested accused Amjad, who was not stable mentally because he had received an injury to the head some time ago.
