Terror bid foiled: CTD nails man with explosives, detonators
Suspect was planning to detonate the bomb in the garrison city
RAWALPINDI:
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Rawalpindi police on Saturday claimed to have averted a tragedy by arresting an alleged bomb maker.
According to CTD, they had caught Najeeb Khan with 650 grammes of explosives, five detonators and 500 ball-bearings.
Officials claimed that Najeeb was planning to detonate the bomb in the garrison city as the presented him before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday.
ATC Judge Asif Majeed Awan approved a police request for seven-day physical remand of the suspect and directed CTD to present him before the court on February 3.
Although, no terrorist attacks took place in Rawalpindi in 2016, police and law-enforcers remain on high alert.
