ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that “everybody discusses corruption as an issue but no one is sincere to eradicate it” and added the issue has become mere slogan tool to befool people.

He expressed these views during the inauguration ceremony of the Sangjani-Biswal Interchange at M-1 near Islamabad on Friday. The interchange has been completed at a cost of Rs650 million. It was a joint project of the Army Welfare Trust, Wapda and the Engineering Cooperative Housing Societies.

Militants no longer operating from Pakistan, says Nisar

The completion of the project has linked the western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with Hakla, Dera Ismail Khan.

The interchange will benefit one million people, besides significantly reducing the travel time from Taxila, Khanpur, Wah Cantt and Hazara to Lahore, Karachi and Dera Ismail Khan. The travel time between Islamabad and Dera Ismail Khan will be reduced to three hours. The project has been completed during a record period of eight months.

Addressing the ceremony, Nisar said the law and order situation in the country has improved due to the civil-military joint efforts.

“The country has been facing different challenges, but the overall situation in all sectors in all parts of the country has improved,” he said and added, “Protests and sit-ins are not a solution to issues.”

He said road projects would not only link different parts of the country but also minds and hearts. “Strong basic infrastructures and development is the future of the country,” said the interior minister.

“There must not be contradiction between words and deeds,” the minister said and added, “One should not talk against corruption if it is being practiced in his surrounding unchecked.”
